How do I make a reservation for my dog/s

  1. You can email your Boarding or Daycare request to ( or telephone (Land line 021 8801420) us to check room availability and/or make a reservation.
  2. If you are new to Zimzala, please complete a "Zimzala Agreement " and "Customer Information" form and return it to us via email. We will email you a "Provisional Confirmation of Reservation"(PCR) upon receipt.
  3. The Provisional Confirmation of Reservation will highlight any outstanding information and/or deposit payments required to "Confirm" the reservation.
  4. Upon receipt of all the required items, the Provisional Confirmation status will Change to Confirmed Reservation of which you will receive an email copy. (Please note that Provisional Reservation Status is not a Confirmed Booking and expires within 2 days of issue)

What will my dogs be doing whilst staying at Zimzala?

Your dog/s will enjoy plenty of outdoor exercise and play during day time in our lawned play paddocks. Dogs that are well socialized will have ample opportunity to meet and interact with other well mannered dogs. Formal "ball throwing" exercises take place during the morning and afternoon . By the time your dog returns to his/her room he should be "dog tired" and ready for a well deserved and peaceful sleep. Over and above we also facilitate forest walks, bath and brush and grooming treatment. Also consider Boot Camp K9 Training for Fido during an extended stay.

How do you calculate the rate of accommodation and what is included in the charges?

Our accommodation rates, as indicated on our "Rates" page are a two tier rate structure encompassing both our normal and peak seasons. Our rates are overnight room rates and are not based on the size of the dog. Rooms have to be vacated by 10h00 on the day of departure (except Sundays). A relevant day care rate will be added to your account for dog/s collected after 10am (except Sundays).

The typical charge for 1 dog only from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon during our normal 2020 season is : 1dog x R322/night x 2 nights = R644 and ;

From Friday morning until Monday afternoon : 1dog x R322 x 3 nights = R966 + R166.75 (day care) = R1 132.75

Note : Dog food is not included in the room rate and the rates are VAT inclusive

Which vaccinations and other preventative care does my dog require to be admitted to Zimzala?

Your dog requires the following minimum vaccinations to be administered at least 2 weeks before visiting our facilities:

DHLPP (So called 5 in 1 - Vaccination)   Canine Distemper, Para-influenza, Adenovirus Type 2, Parvovirus, Leptospira Bac)   Once every 12 months (For dogs younger than 7 years)
Kennel Cough (Bordetella). In addition to the para influenza vaccine.   To be applied at least 2 weeks before visiting.   Once every 6 months
Rabies   Required by law   Once very 3 years

In addition we require your dog to be tick and flea free and on an ongoing tick and flea treatment programme. Please ensure that your dog is dewormed and in excellent health before visiting our facilities

What happens if I cancel a reservation?

Should you inform us ahead of time that you will be canceling your reservation, we have the opportunity to find other guests. Unfortunately it becomes more difficult on short notice and therefore our cancellation policy applies as follows.

1. More than 30 days prior to arrival   Full refund of the deposit less R50 administration fee
2. Between 21 and 30 days   Refund of 75% of the deposit
3. Between 14 and 21 days   Refund of 50% of the deposit
4 Between 7 and 14 days   Refund 25% of the deposit
5 Less than 7 days   No refund of the deposit
6 During peak season and long weekends, deposits are not refundable in the event of cancellation within 30 days of arrival date.
7 Other than peak season and long weekends you may also postpone your booking for 6 months from date of cancellation without penalty.

Why do I need to pay a deposit?

We only have 30 rooms which fills up quickly, especially during our peak periods. Simply put, a deposit will secure a room. If you do not pay the deposit a room cannot be allocated and the booking status will not be changed to "Confirmed". There is thus no guarantee of a room being available. Also note that during our seasonal periods reservations are made months in advance and an early reservation is necessary to avoid disappointment.
