Our love for the Flat Coated Retriever breed inspired us to share our passion for dogs and ultimately this lead to the establishment of Zimzala K9 Estate during 2007. Today, Zimzala is firmly established as a class leading Hotel for Dogs, Doggie Day Care and Dog Training Center in the Western Cape. In addition, The Parlour@Zimzala offers bespoke dog grooming services whilst the Dogshop@Zimzala offers unique dog related products of all kinds.
We take great pride in our cared for facilities, doggie play paddocks and loyal customers. Our dependable and caring staff is a source of great joy, making sure we give every visitor the best care and attention at their home away from home
Meet the Team
Willem
Forever adventurer, devoted animal lover and family man. Alpha Dog is the co-founder of Zimzala and responsible for daily operations.
Amanda
Dog Trainer, Flatcoat fanatic and animal lover. Amanda is the co-founder of Zimzala and responsible for our Dog Training Centre.
Tania
Ever friendly, Tania is our customer service and office administrator. She takes care of all our customer communications and hotel bookings.
Nina
Nina is an instructor at our Dog Training Centre. Nina loves all animals big and small and is a qualified canine hydrotherapist and dog training instructor.
Abbigail
Able Abbi takes care of all our Parlour, dog grooming enquiries and bookings as well as all matters The Dogshop@Zimzala.
Bonita
Bonita our Groomer in Chief. Her love and care for our grooming customers shines through her work. With her experienced hands she makes all Fidos look fabulous.
Malvern
Malvern is our friendly Pack Leader. He takes care of all our visitors daily health, hygiene and happiness, going the extra mile to ensure their every stay is a pleasurable one.
Lindah
Lindah is responsible for the never ending task of hygiene and deep cleaning our facilities daily for a pleasant and disease free stay.
The Groundsmen
Norbert, Aaron and Thulani ensure all our paddocks and gardens are clean, tidy, hygienic and beautiful

Quality Facilities, Service and Training
- Zimzala Estate is set in the picturesque Stellenbosch Winelands and home to Zimzala - Hotel for Dogs. Our modern Hotel with spacious and airy rooms, each with direct access to an outside run. Our lawned play paddocks nestles amongst manicured gardens and mature trees. Each paddock has a water feature and access to ample fresh water. Special walks on the Estate or adjoining 50ha woodlands are also undertaken on request.
- Our dedicated grooming parlour, with walk-in-wash-bay is perfect for grooming your dog in a low stress environment. Also linger for a while in our well appointed Dogshop@Zimzala for special doggie items ranging from dog toys, whistles to bespoke leather collars and leashes, etc. We also stock Doggobone Raw Active products.
- Our Dog Training Center, with its unique, fully equipped Indoor Training Facility, is a source of great pride and joy. With several proud graduates over the years, it is a must do for every new and existing dog owner. We only employ "positive reinforcement " training techniques during our fun and game based training sessions. From puppy socialization classes to advanced obedience training and in-house "Boot camp for Fido" ; we have the right training for you.
